Research

Supported by Ensemble Rûm, this project aims to bring together databases on Ottoman-Turkish music and history. It seeks to make sources more accessible to researchers, performers and anyone interested in the field, bringing dispersed knowledge into a shared research space.

Conceived as a long-term, open-ended undertaking, these databases grow through the contributions of their members. Anyone can become a member and help develop them by sharing information and sources, completing existing records and suggesting corrections.

Submissions are assessed by expert reviewers, and approved contributions are published for others to consult. The databases thus serve ongoing research while continuing to develop through collective work.
